Born April 29th in the Island of Barbados, Lisa realized from an early age the effect music had on her and the role it would play in her life. She started singing in church at the age of eight and by the age of twelve she realized how much music could touch other people when she saw them crying while she sang. She hasn’t stopped since. She studied music under the tutelage of various tutors, including The late Great Janice Millington who was one of Barbados’ premiere singer/musicians at the time. Lisa went on to work with Jeffrey Lee Allen in Los Angeles and Cari Cole Studios in New York City as she continued to hone her skills and pursue her dreams. After receiving her training, Lisa veered towards the path of teaching. She founded the company Sing Vocal Arts Studio where she worked with many singers and artistes on both voice training and artist development and developed many programmes for the Youth Development Programme & National Cultural Foundation.
After many years of developing artistes, Lisa has chosen this time to release her first solo project. Entitled ‘NuBridges4Me’, the album contains 13 tracks and was recorded, written and produced in Barbados with all 13 tracks being written and produced by Tony Bailey of the band Krosfyah; one of the Island’s most successful music exports.She hopes that the album will garner worldwide visibility and also reach as many people as possible. Influenced by artists such as Bob Marley and the Wailers, Gabby, Quincy Jones, Diane Warren, Tony Bailey, Tracy Chapman, and David Foster; the album promises to be an eclectic one which spans topics such as spirituality, life, love and world issues. A seasoned performer, Lisa also hopes to grace stages worldwide to share her music and hopefully touch and heal those persons she encounters.
While this may be the first project, it can be guaranteed that it will not be the last as Lisa looks to follow the path which God created for her; and if this is the first time you have heard her name, rest assured that you will not forget it after experiencing the journey of ‘NuBridges4Me’.
