Is an independent record label founded by singer/dj/selector/promoter Slaggy,born and bred in the ghettos of Mbare Zimbabwe,Africa fell in love with reggae music back in the 80's when Zimbawe was known as Africa's reggae capital because of the countries strong reggae following,made the transition from reggae to dancehall listening to artists like clement irie,tiger,flourgun,ninja,bailey,shabba ,jonny p then setting up his own sound system Black Scorpion in 1994 with friends Mad Lion and Elty Trouble being one of the first local sounds to actually own its own PA System and take dancehall outside the capital city Harare,in 1997 he met up with artist Bobo Markos then known as Marcus together they formed a dj partnership writing dancehall tunes then joined local reggae live band Cruxial Mix led by Zimbabwean based Jamaican Trevor Hall aka Ras Jabu who mentored the two giving them exposure performing in all major reggae events and festivals in 1998 the duo dropped a debut album 'revolution/kusanduka at the same time launching a label Black Upliftment Records.When Slaggy moved to the UK in 2001 he changed the label name to Upliftment Records.In 2002 he got signed to Wolverhampton's AD2000 Records led by Antonio Barnett which led to the production of singles like a cover of 54/46 which featured Donchez D,summertime,not guilty among others,in 2004 he relocated whilst setting the Upliftment Records to the next level with the use of the internet at the same time commanding his role as a dj in clubs and local pirate radios like frontile 103.6FM .2006 he set up one of his biggest projects so far the Zim dancehall network (www.zimdancehall.com) linking up Zimbabwean dancehall artists all over then world and suppliying riddims from various producers to be voiced for complilation albums which led to riddims like Konzeresa(Jusa),Snaka Bite(Alfire),Hardcore(Kudzi) and many more being voiced and also ogarnising live shows around the UK linke Rise Again ,Zim dancehall Summer splash,Zim dancehall Awards 2007,2008/09, etc the network has been running for 3years which led to the slow progress of the record label but this year there are bigger tings in store with releases from Trevor Hall album titled 'we in the advent' a roots ,lovers,rub a dub album,the compilation album on the riddim Jeepmock created by two Zimbabwean based producers Jeepers creepers and Mockery.......
