LEO TAN
Growing up in a musical family on the Island of Sint Maarten, Leo-Tan was gifted with the ability to sing and play instruments. At age seven he started playing guitar and shortly after began singing and playing in different festivals, and churches on the Island.
As the years went by peer pressure got the best of him and he started to rebel against all the rules and regulations of the church, and got involved in competitions and was toasting for money or for anything that was worth competing for.
Later on he joined a local band, and was playing for Carnival and other Caribbean festivities, playing electric guitar, and singing for Gospel, Reggae, and Dancehall repertoires. However, doing all of these things Leo-Tan was not satisfied with the progress and support of the locals, so he left in 1991 to The Netherlands.
Ever since then he was involved with numerous projects, performances and interviews in The Netherlands, and nearby countries. Leo-Tan is presently busy doing some collabs with diffrent artists. He has written many wonderfull songs that still has not been exposed. Leo-Tan sings All THE VOCALS in his tracks including BACKINGS, and the Dancehall toasting.
Leo-Tan has performed in Germany, Austria, England, Belgium, Bermuda, and all over the Netherlands and the Caribbean. Leo-Tan is presently writing songs for a Gospel group called God's messengers, and has allready performed with them in concerts.
1. What is the meaning of your name? {group if applicable}:
Leo stands for Lion, and coming from the caribbean having one of the best color tone brown Tanned skin.(lol) therefore my artists name: Leo-Tan (Caribbean tanned Lion)
2. What does your music bring to the reggae genre?
It brings more love, more flavor, more variety, more versatility and more sincerity.
3. Who influenced you? And what is your motivation?
My influence comes from my parents who are both musically inclined and gifted. Further more I grew up with Steel pulse, Third world, Aswad, Barrington levy, Jimmy cliff, Jacob miller, Bob Marley, Musical youth, and many many more musical legends out there. Nature and all God's creation adds to the influences I receive daily.

4. What do you see as the future of reggae and music in general?
Reggae music and a few other music speaks the language of hope, love, unity, inner peace, and faith in the Most High Jesus Christ the Son of God. Which is the only cure and answer for the world today, yesterday, and tomorrow. The more we try to erase the Trinity the more we destroy and erase love & unity.
5. Playing or recording what do you prefer?
No preference love both activities.
6. Please tell the folks what you would like them to know.
Reggae music is a tool that promotes hope, unity, faith, love, and more, but only if our hearts are right with the source of genuine unconditional love (Jesus Christ the Son of God) can we achieve higher levels of understanding, obedience, inspiration, and the power of attracting other souls to experience His love that He always had, has, and is willing to give to all mankind if we thrust and obey Him. I'm an artists who has dedicated my talent to sing about things that will build mind, character, and personality. I sing about love, hope, faith, awareness, relationships, pain, and the everyday issues of life.
Nuff blessings to ya'll,
Leo-Tan aka Melodyman.
